To Remember...

Well, it's almost been a year since my dad passed away. Yucky to think about. SO, I have decided to focus on LIFE instead this month.

Greg bought some small terra cotta pots, and Cannon and I got to work painting them. Then decorating. I used some rub ons, paper cut outs, and even cut a design out of a pretty napkin. LOVE that Mod Podge! Also, crafts are very theraputic.
Dad's favorite flower was a Zinnia. For those of you who knew him, you're probably thinking, "That son-of-a-bitch liked flowers?" YEP. LOVED Zinnias. And he pronounced them "zeee-nyas" with his good old Utah accent.

Needless to say, that's the seed that got planted in each pot. I gave one to all the girls in my family. To remember. That life goes on, even when someone we love isn't here with us. That you can plant seeds, and sometimes sorrow can turn into hope. And you can look at a beautiful flower, and remember your daddy.

We miss you, you crazy old bastard!

Oh Piper, that is really sweet. What a great idea to give out. And I have to admit, I did think.."what?? He liked flowers?" HA!!

How beautiful! What a wonderful way to put a positive spin on something that so easily makes us so sad. I love you, Piper :o)

Yes your dad was one grumpy old bastard on the outside, but one of the kindest people on the inside. You will have to ask my brother to tell you his deer hunting experience with him and your dad. Your dad is one hell of a badass when it comes to protecting the people he cared for and one of those people was Buck.
Great story about a great man.

Ha! Ha! Love it! You said it perfectly! And I'm so excited about my Zeeeenyahs! You're the best. Remember when Dad was in that Rising Star program and the name of his group (he chose the name) was "The Caring and Sharing" group. What?? Dad was a true Gemini, that's for sure. :)
