Nesting Swap - Jill

OOOHHH! Imagine my delight at the mailbox today! I got my package from Jill! First of all, I LOVE it when I see my name on things. Never happens. I can't just go on vacation and find my name on a keychain or coffee mug somewhere. Love my name in glitter! (and my son had a good old time with the bubble wrap!)

Look at the cute wreath she made! It's already hanging on the wall.

Ah, just look inside! So many fun things! CUTE swatch of fabric, lots of birds that I can't wait to mod-podge onto something.... flowers, BUTTONS, and a teeny tiny basket! Wow, she really "got" me!

My very favorite was this wonderful old crocheted trim. Perfect colors, and it may just end up as a bracelet if I can rig it. Thank you Jill! And thanks Heather at the Speckled Egg for hosting and organizing!!

My Squares...

Some of you may know about the current stich-a-long project with Amy from Inspire Co.

Every one's supposed to stitch a little square every day for 39 days.

Well, I had started this about a year ago, when she was doing a different sampler. Man, it is so fun, and very theraputic. It's become a doodle with embroidery thread as well as a bit of a journal. Kind of like a year of my life.
I've got swatches of fabric that I used to make my baby her quilts. I have a breast cancer pin. Originally for my mom ( A SURVIVOR), but now for Aunt Liz too.
I have mostly flowers, because they're my favorite.
I have a seashell and the ocean becase that's where I was, out of town, last year when my dad passed away. I have a sun because I call my son, "Sunny Bunny", and a cupcake for "Baby Cakes" Harper.
I also included some buttons that were my mom's and her mom's and her mom's.....
A duck for my friend Lori who passed away 9 years ago.
Every thing on here means something. I love it. I have one square left, I started with some candles, but now I'm not so sure.... we'll see if that one gets ripped out and started over.

Walkin' and Talkin' (kind of)

ANNNNDDDDDD she's offf!! (not the same way her mother is off ! ) Little missy is walking all around! She is definitely walking more than crawling!

And, she says "Da Da" "Wa Wa"(for grandma) And "Bob" (the builder) she sees him and shouts "Bob! Bob!"

But did you see a word missing? MOM, MAMA, MOMMY, I get nothin'!

Little stinker!

Harper's First Haircut!

I think it's pretty bad when a little one-year-old can pull off the "Dog The Bounty Hunter" look,

And, the Carol Brady. Check out that mullett! A whispy one, no less! Yuck. Pretty bad, especially when your mom's a hairdresser.

Luckily, my kids are used to the "salon", so they are good about getting their hair cut.

And the result: much, much better! Funny how shorter hair can make you look more like a girl, and how a little bit of a trim can go such a long way!

Button, Button.....

I got the buttons! I inherited my mom's button box. OH JOY! I can't tell you the countless hours I spent rummaging through this as a child. This has always been my kind of treasure. You can definitely see the decades running through this collection. It started with my great grandma Jensen. Probably in the 30's or 40's. Then when my parents got married in the 60's, that's when she got it. And I can definitely see those weirdo buttons from the 60's and 70's.... then I recognize some buttons from some ghastly things I wore in the 80's and 90's. YIPES.

So I pass my love of all things old onto my children. Cannon has taken to it. We have spent many afternoons sorting our buttons into their respective colors. His favorite part is finding all the random stuff: a googly eye, one half of a pair of red dice, a petrified eraser.

We had mostly black and white buttons, so I put them into a beautiful old blue canning jar.

Then I thought, "What in the world should I do with all of these buttons?" I can't just look

at them forever.

So I'm sharing some in the swap I'm participating in, and then I searched the internet and found some wonderful button flowers. And since I have about a million crocheted flowers, I added those too. I'm very happy with the cheery result!

So if anyone needs a button, call me!
