Goodbye, Tonsils!
Well, yesterday was the big day!! We got up at 5am, and made it to the Avenue's Surgical Center by 6. I was glad it was so early, we could get it over with! We had to wait for a bit, and it made us all a little antsy, but then the nurse gave Cannon some "silly medicine". Boy, did it work!! He kept making peace signs and trying to grab something that wasn't there. He was so out of it, it was funny. He was so looped up that he didn't even care when they came to take him to the O.R. in a little wagon. He just said, "bye!" That was at 7:30am. The surgery was done by 8. Pretty quick!! His tonsils were so big, they had to cut one in half to get it out!! (sorry for the graphic pic!)
I think he is more beat up from after the surgery though. He has some bruises and scratches, and he was so agitated, he RIPPED out his IV! The nurse said, "This is your child on drugs." Scary. I hope we never have to see that again. I'm glad he doesn't remember it.
I was surprised to see how well he ate yesterday, even with a sore throat. He ate some soup broth and THREE pieces of bread! I have never seen that before. Those tonsils must have been a major blockage.
He will take his antibiotic, but not his pain medicine. Weird. My cute neighbor Susan even took it back to the pharmacy for us to have more flavor added, and he still won't take it. He's a little more stubborn today. I can tell he hurts because he won't even eat ice cream! So he's taking lots of baths and I'm trying to be extra patient. My mom is here to help us both!
Thanks everyone for all the well wishes! Love to you all!!

Week 8
I am so glad I have a sewing machine! And a new one, at that. It was in the shop all last week, timing adjustment. So I'm very happy to have it back. The good thing about that was that I got caught up on my scrapbooking.... I think sewing is my favorite right now!! I just love making something and looking at it and thinking, "hey, I did that!"
I was able to make a blanket and silkie for Cannon for his upcoming surgery. That made me very happy. A sense of accomplishment!
Thanks to Greg for the wonderful Christmas present! If you'd asked me 10 years ago what I wanted for Christmas, I never would have said a sewing machine!! Funny how things change, right?

A good book...
I just finished this book last night. The Memory Keeper's Daughter by Kim Edwards. What a wonderful read! The subject manner is depressing, but you don't feel depressed. She is a master of the English language, her words and descriptions are so rich. It was one of those books where I wanted to highlight everything! She words things just perfectly. If you are looking for something to read, I highly recommend it!

week 6 (blessings)
This was also a "no brainer" week with the 52 blessings post.
With "heart day" coming up, I am THANKFUL for modern medicine.
This week Gary gave us a scare. He had some "routine surgery" on Tuesday to add some stints to his heart. Thursday a blood clot ended up in his bypass in his heart.
I am so so so thankful he listened to his (heart) and called for an ambulance. I am so thankful they gave him medicine to dissolve the clot. I am so thankful that they were able to successfully install another stint to block the clot.
Also, my friend's daughter is brought to mind. A two year old having open heart surgery. I can't imagine it, as a parent, or a patient. It is a miracle that the doctors were able to fix everything completely. Hooray for Primary Children's Hospital!
Happy Heart Day everyone! Be thankful that yours is healthy and strong. Be thankful for the love. Love you!

52 Blessings
This week it was an easy choice. I am so thankful for our computer! After being without it for a whole week a while back, I realized just how much I rely on it! It is my link to the world, and my link to all of you!
I remember being young and referring to our dictionary or encyclopedias whenever I wanted to learn about something. Now, with the internet, EVERYTHING is at my fingertips! I love the instant gratification, whether it's looking up something I don't know quite how to explain to Cannon, or trying to find out who that dude is on Celebrity Rehab!
What did we ever do before?

Take Down!
Last night Cannon and I went to see my nephew Johnny wrestle. Have you ever seen REAL wrestling before? It is intense!!! I had to remind myself to breathe!! I also had to remind myself that I am almost 32 and these are barely legal BOYS!!(creepy!) Man, the muscles! Woooo! I am scared of my nephew! He is so quick and strong! (he's in the red shoes)
There is a girl on their wrestling team, I would almost join too just to get in shape! John didn't win his match, but he sure did a great job. Cannon loves to watch him playing "take down"!
